Blizzard’s newest Overwatch hero, Baptiste will be entering the game’s competitive mode on March 19th, 2019. Blizzard took to Twitter to make the announcement and teasing the arrival of the hero to competitive play.

Baptiste is a combat medic hero that has a 3-round burst gun and can throw healing projectiles to help heal teammates or heal them if they are in his passive abilities’ radius as well.

Overwatch developer Geoff Goodman explained regarding the Immortality Field that: “The Immortality Field has many disadvantages compared to other support ultimates such as Transcendence and Sound Barrier. If a Baptiste player can work around these disadvantages they can potentially use this ability to even stop another team’s ultimate, which can be a huge advantage to his team”.

Baptiste is still a relatively new hero and players will still need time to get the hang of using the hero competitively to their advantage. Overwatch was in need of a combat medic for a long time and having Baptiste unveiled at a time where it was crucial that the newest hero was a combat medic will surely make the days ahead lots of fun and interesting. However, the tweet from Blizzard may be misleading and has been confirmed as a mistake by the developer team and the hero will be avalaible for competitive play on the 2nd of April 2019 although his official release will still be on the 19th of March 2019. Stay tuned for more news on Blizzard’s latest hero!
