A few weeks ago, we learned about the sudden announcements of Call of Duty: Warzone. Afterward, the game put a new standard in Battle Royale games and took all competitors by surprise. The gameplay was excellent and optimization was on point.
Call of Duty: Warzone in its first week had almost 15 million players. This was something we had never seen in games. When comparing these numbers with other popular games like Apex Legends, PUBG, and Fortnite. All three titles took weeks to get 15 million players, COD only took 3.
30 Million Players
Today, we have news that numbers have doubled and maybe more. Call of Duty official twitter account tweeted “Over 30 million of you have dropped in to play. Thank you to this amazing community”.
Like I previously said, Activision took all the weak points from previous Battle Royale games and analyzed them. Afterwards, they released a better game with new features and fixed issues from competitors. Furthermore, there are two more reasons why these numbers are so high.
Free & Coronavirus
Well firstly, the game is free which allows anyone to play it. Secondly, the Coronavirus outbreak has forced everyone to stay home. This means that most of the people are likely to play games. We have seen Steam, CS:GO and other games break their previous records after Coronavirus outbreak. It’s very likely that most of these exceeding players are due to COVID-19. However, the reviews are pretty good, and the game is receiving very less criticism. I’m sure all 80% of players from 30 million will be satisfied with what Activision has made.
