Colorful has announced an addition of two new options for their lineup of Solid-State Drives. Colorful’s CN600S will be released in two variants, one of the variants will have 240GB storage size and the other variant will have 480GB storage size. Both SSDs will be featuring Intel 64-layer 3D NAND. Those people who are looking for a high-performance but a budget-friendly SSD, the CN600S is a really good choice. Colorful CN600S has improved in performance and capacity which allows it to be used in a wider range of applications including professional use, gaming or Home Theater PC.
The Colorful CN600S uses an SMI 2263XT controller, featuring an M.2 2280 design which can deliver transfer speeds of up to 1.5GB/s write and 2GB/s read speeds. The SMI 2263XT controller uses the PCIe Gen3x4 interface that can deliver 4 times faster performance than SATA3 for accessing, reading, and opening games and applications. Colorful CN600S M.2 PCIe SSD is focused to deliver budget-friendly SSD in the market.
A smaller footprint gives the advantage to PCIe M.2 drives to be used in smaller devices and uses less energy. PCIe M.2 drives also have performance advantage as they use PCI-Express interface that provides up to 4 times the speeds of the SATA3 interface. This helps the applications like editing programs or games to load faster and data can also be accessed readily.
The recent advancements that Colorful has made in Solid-State drive technology has allowed them to provide to a wider audience, offering more options for the consumers either professionals or gamers having distinct requirements. Price and availability have not been announced yet. However, it is expected to be released in European and Asian markets soon.
