The Intel’s Whiskey Lake-U processors have been leaked along with their first specifications. A successor to the Intel’s Kaby Lake-R, this lineup of mobile processors will be based on the 14nm++ process node. While these processors will be delivering improved clock speeds, these processors will be based on the same architecture as Kaby Lake series of processors.

Tum Apisak revealed the processors over his twitter feed just a few days ago. The processors that were revealed include the Core i5-8265U(succeeding the Core i5-8250U) and the Core i7-8565U(succeeding the Core i7-8550U). Based on the 14nm++ process node, both of the CPUs have the same architecture as the Kaby Lake which is found on the Kaby Lake-R processors. The only difference that these CPUs have is that Intel managed to squeeze a little more clock speeds out of these CPUs because of better power management and more optimized process design.

Core i7-8565U – Specifications:

The Intel’s Core i7-8565U has 4 cores and 8 threads along with 8 MB of L3 cache in a 15W CPU. The processor has a base clock speed of 1.8 GHz and a boost clock speed of 4.5 GHz. The boost clock speed is 500 MHz higher than the predecessor while maintaining the same base frequency. The processor will feature the Intel UHD 620 graphics chip with a clock rate of around 1150 MHz.

This image shows the test results for the Intel Core i7-8565U processor.

The Core i7 shows an additional +200 MHz base frequency and an additional +100 MHz boost frequency in the 3DMark listing which could mean that this processor might be able to boost the frequency even further.

Core i5-8265U – Specifications:

The Intel’s Core i5-8265U also has 4 cores and 8 threads along with 6 MB of L3 cache in a 15W CPU. The processor has a base clock speed of 1.6 GHz and a boost clock speed of 3.9 GHz. Again, the boost clock speed is 500 MHz higher than its predecessor. We are expecting the same GPU, the Intel UHD 620 chip having a clock rate of around 1.1 GHz.

Haier Bo Yue series notebooks have listed both of these processors. The prices for these laptops have not been set. These laptops will be featuring 1 TB HDD along with a 256 GB SSD, 8 GB of DDR4-2400 MHz ram, a 1920 x 1080 15.6″ IPS display having a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the NVIDIA MX150 dedicated graphics card having 2GB GDDR5 memory.

We can expect a launch of these processors soon as these processors are being listed by OEMs. Stay tuned for more!
