Patriot Memory, also known as PDP Systems is an American designer and manufacturer of PC based USB flash drives, memory modules, solid state drives, and gaming peripherals. Founded in 1985, the company got its fair share of recognition after the late 2000’s and as of today, Patriot is a well-known brand when it comes to RAMs, SSDs, and portable storage.
We previously reviewed Patriot Trinity 64GB USB Flash Drive, and we loved the vast amount of outputs it had which made everything easier to use, be it with the latest Mac or any Mobile device with almost no price impact.
We got our lucky hands on the new Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM, these modules from Patriot are very much interesting with the exceptional RGB lighting highlighting the beauty of the ram and on top of that, these modules are very much on par with almost all of the premium memory modules out there, at least on paper. To dig further in the details of these modules let’s dive straight into the review!

The Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM comes in a very standard, aesthetic and colorful packaging. Taking the first glance on the front side of the box we can clearly see that the RGB function of the modules is compatible with almost every brand’s lighting sync system such as the Asus Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystical Sync, and Asrock’s Polychrome Sync.
We can also see a “Gamer Certified” monogram embedded onto the front side of the box, anyways we’ll have to test if that is true or not. We can also see the basic specification details on the front side as well which exhibits that the ram is PC4-25600 3200MHz.
Taking a look at the back side of the box we can discern that the ram has a lifetime warranty which is a very positive aspect. And the rest is the usual brief introduction about the ram and some social media links of Patriot, topped off with a hashtag called “Gamer Certified” again.
As soon as we take out the modules off of the box we can see that Patriot has included some nice stickers as well and the modules themselves.
The modules sport a very classy and elegant heatsink with a silver shiny logo of Patriot in between the modules. These are some of the best looking RAMs, I’ve seen until now.
In the casing, there’s a thanking letter from Patriot as well which is a nice gesture in my opinion.
RGB LED Effects:
The RGB LED lighting effects of the Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM are the main highlight of these modules and to be honest, the lighting of these modules are very aesthetically pleasing. We played with the lighting effects as far as we could and we were satisfied enough. In the software, we can select Heatshield Color, Lighting Effects, Color, Brightness, and Speed. We also have options for setting numerous profiles. In a nutshell, it’s a complete package of everyone’s RGB craze needs.

Test Rig & Methodology:
We’ll be testing the Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM on a Ryzen platform and comparing it with the Gskill Trident Z DDR4 3200MHz RAM with the following specifications:

We’ll be testing the modules on the following benchmarks, applications, and games:
- PerformanceTest 9.0 (Memory Mark)
- Superposition Benchmark
- 3D Mark Fire Strike
- Deus Ex Mankind
- Rise of The Tomb Raider
- Shadow Of War
- Cinebench R15
The methodology is based on stock and overclocked benchmarking of the Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM on our Ryzen Platform with some comparisons with the Gskill Trident Z DDR4 3200MHz RAM in between.
Overclocking the Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200MHz RAM was fairly easy, we managed to successfully OC the modules to a stable 3400MHz @ 1.38volts. However, the ram showed more performance gains at 3333Mhz @ 1.37volts, it was kind of strange but we can cut some slack here for the Patriot Modules as almost all RAMs are targeted towards Intel platforms and the modules probably had this behavior due to the QVL, as it is not listed in the compatibility charts of the QVL for the ASUS Crosshair VI and Ryzen Platforms.
We started at 2933Mhz @ 1.35volts increasing the frequency and volts incrementally, checking the stability altogether. The most stable and in favor of the performance side was the 3333Mhz @ 1.37volts, so we stuck to it for our Overlocked benchmarking session.
Here are the stock and raw benchmarks compared with the overclocked modules of the Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM:
In the benchmarks of AIDA 64, we can clearly see that the overclocked modules almost have a 100% and above performance gain when compared to the stock frequencies, that is very much satisfying.
We can see on stock Patriot Viper DDR4 RAM had latency of 108.4 nanoseconds but while overclocked its 78.9 nanoseconds. Patriot Viper surely showed better latencies compared with Gskill Trident Z DDR4 RAM.
In the test of Winrar, we can clearly see that the overclocked modules have a 25-30% performance gain over the stock frequencies, which is quite impressive. Here it can be deduced that Patriot Viper DDR4 RAM performing better than the Gskill Trident Z DDR4 RAM.
PerformanceTest 9.0 (Memory Mark):
Memory mark showed some similar results as well almost a significant gain of 20% when overclocked versus the stock clocks. As this is a pure memory test, We can certainly say that this difference will also impact in memory demanding applications. We can see that Patriot Viper DDR4 RAM showed better results than the Gskill Trident Z DDR4 RAM.
In the results of Geekbench, there was an almost 15-18% performance gain when compared with stock frequencies.
In Superposition, we didn’t get to see much performance gains, although there was a notable 5% gain, we shouldn’t expect much because it’s a more of a GPU benchmark rather than a memory benchmark. Also, Patriot Viper DDR4 RAM is lacking behind Gskill Trident Z DDR4 just by a small difference.
3D Mark Fire Strike:
In 3D Mark Fire Strike we can see a slight bump of the overclocked modules over the stock frequencies. Here Gskill Trident Z DDR4 RAM is performing better than the Patriot Viper DDR4 RAM.
Deus Ex Mankind:
In the benchmark tests of Deus Ex Mankind, we can see slight performance improvement as overclocked Patriot Viper DDR4 RAM performed 1.9 FPS better than stock. Also, it lacks performance compared to Gskill Trident Z DDR4 RAM. In real life daily usage, the overclocked rams will always have an advantage over the stock frequencies.
Rise of the Tomb Raider:
Rise of the tomb raider’s benchmarks didn’t exhibit any notable gains of any sort. However, we can see there is a difference of .4 FPS while overclocked.
Shadow Of Mordor:
We experienced in Shadow Of War that overclocking resulted in gaining 6 fps. But Patriot Viper DDR4 is lacking behind the Gskill Trident Z 3200mhz
Cinebench R15 benchmarks exhibited a 10% gain over the stock frequencies of the modules when overclocked. We can see that Viper performed worse in the stock scenario while overclocked it showed better results.
To wrap things up, I’d like to mention that Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM is one of the coolest pieces of hardware I’ve ever reviewed here at Pak Gamers Republic. There isn’t anything to dislike about this RAM. The ram is a complete package of perfect aesthetics, performance, and reliability.
In the end, I am inclined to recommend Patriot Viper DDR4 RAM to anyone who is looking to build a system with aesthetics and performance.
The additional RGB lighting effect is like the cherry on the top of the cake, the modules overclocked well and showed some amazing overclocking capabilities. Patriot is just going on the right path at the moment and it’s only a matter of time that PDP systems are going to take over the other memory tech giants like Corsair, G-Skill, and Kingston.
