Even though this a remarkable and well-rounded device with a reasonable price range, it has its share of facets that need to be addressed. The Mi Router 3 was working alright till firmware update came out. All the dives connected to wifi were compatible with Wifi channels for Europe region, so we configured the wifi settings in accordance with that. Now, when the latest firmware upgrade came out, due to unknown reasons, it brought a change in the channel ranges for 5GHz which led to the disappearance of the channel for Europe region. As a result, the MacBook Pro and other devices connected to the wifi were disconnected now. Perplexed by this sudden abnormality, we shifted to the Chinese channel which solved our problem but changed the language into Chinese which conceived the next problem, the language barrier. In this way, we were faced with technical problems while using Mi Router 3 and this demands an immediate follow-up.
We experienced major issues with the mobile app that Xiaomi Provided. It did not work at all showing us the error that ‘Router is already Setup’. This may be something that can be fixed in next update of the app and it is not confirmed for all the devices. We also tried to reset the Mi Router 3and set it up using the app. But once the Mi Router 3 was fully set up, it again showed us some strange errors. Let us show you the configuration of the mobile app.
They really need to work on their application, which is neat and manageable at first glance, however, there are some issues that surfaced while using it.
Furthermore, when we talk about its connection strength, we’ve seen occasional instances where the 2.4Ghz range disconnects in wifi congested environment. Lastly, the internal speed tests do not give reliable results so it’s better to test the speed from another source.
Despite the issues, pros heavily outweigh its cons. So I will definitely give it thumbs up for the users who are looking to purchase a good router within a reasonable price range. It costs $39 on Amazon & 3850 PKR on mistore.pk. In all honesty, is a very good package. You are getting a router with two bandwidths, you can download torrent files directly on the connected USB drive on the Mi Router 3 from your phone, and the absolute command over router without logging in from the IP address speaks for the convenience this router provides the user. It is safe to assume that Mi Router 3 is one of the great routers in its price range. Hopefully, some pending issues will be resolved spoon by the company to finally achieve the stainless quality of perfection.
